Kisspeptin-10 is a synthetic decapeptide (Tyr-Asn-Trp-Asn-Ser-Phe-Gly-Leu-Arg-Phe-NH2) representing the minimal biologically active sequence of the endogenous metastin protein. It functions as a high-affinity ligand for the G-protein-coupled receptor KISS1R (formerly GPR54). Kisspeptin-10 is a fundamental regulator of the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal (HPG) axis, where it triggers the pulsatile release of Gonadotropin-Releasing Hormone (GnRH). Research applications include investigations into the onset of puberty, the modulation of luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) secretion, and its potential role as a metastasis suppressor in various oncological models.
